Abstract

Light sources based on light-emitting diodes (LED) can be created for almost any wavelength suitable for exciting photosensitizers (PS). This paper presents the main approaches to develop LED-based light sources for well-controlled photodynamic exposure and the results of their implementation. High power density LED light sources were designed and tested for both in vitro and in vivo and photodynamic studies, as well as for irradiation of various pathological foci during photodynamic therapy.
